Attendance

Student Attendance Expectations
Regular school attendance is important at Stauffer Middle School and students who miss school frequently can fall behind on classes. Punctuality is important for students to learn so they may achieve their greatest academic potential. It is important for students to understand that tardiness to class is unacceptable. We ask that students arrive on time daily and encourage parents to make appointments after school to avoid loss of class time.
Parents/guardians have 10 school days to verify an absence, beginning on the day the student returns to school. A Chronic Absentee Notice will be mailed home after the 7th absence.
Tardy Policy
Students who come to school late must report directly to the main office to obtain a pass. If tardy is more than 30 minutes student must have a written note from parent/physician or must be signed in by parent/guardian through the main office.
3 Tardies: Campus Beautification
4 Tardies: Campus Beautification x2
5 Tardies: Character Building Intervention
6 Tardies: Saturday School. (After Saturday School is served, tardies are set back to zero.)
Tardies and absences can be cleared by attending Saturday School.
Tardies and Absences are tracked using Q Student and Parent Connect.
8th Graders with 10+ tardies will lose eight grade activities.
Leaving Campus Early
Last early sign out is 20 minutes before dismissal.
How to Report an Absence
