After a two-year hiatus, on Friday, October 7, 2022, our Board of Education and Superintendent hosted our eighth annual State of the Schools breakfast presented by the Downey Foundation for Educational Opportunities, with all proceeds benefiting True Lasting Connections (TLC).

A delicious breakfast was served by our Warren High School Culinary students while attendees listened to keynote speakers share the district’s achievements, strategic direction and were provided an update on the major programs being implemented throughout the district. Superintendent Dr. Garcia touched on five major topics that morning that were driven by our district Vision of “having all students graduate with a 21st Century education that ensures they are College and Career Ready, Globally Competitive and Citizens of Strong Character.” The event concluded with our amazing elementary “Pit Crew” students leading our guests through a INDIE Programming Activity that showcased how our youngest student learn how to code within the first years of thier educational experience.

These topics included:

  • Our eight (8) districtwide Apple Distinguished School designations and thier important meaning to both our students and the district as a whole.
  • Wellness and Social & Emotional support, programs and spaces we have for all of our students, including our new Wellness Centers.
  • An update on our over 20+ Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathways and programs for our students (including a student testimonial video).
  • An update on our newly completed Measure O construction projects which included photos from all four middle schools as well as a video highlighting these projects and thanking the community.
  • An introduction into our 2022 Facilities Master Plan (FMP) and the potential Phase II construction that would place a large focus on upgrading and modernizing all of our elementary school campuses.

Proudly, nearly 300 guests attended this event and we cannot thank each of you, including our Sponsors, enough as all proceeds will be going to our TLC Family Resource Center, which partners with more than 50 agencies dedicated to providing support to children and families within the district. These services include providing the help needed by parents to become better participants in our schools and the community.  TLC also ensures that each referred student receives the physical and emotional support they need. We look forward to seeing everyone next year for the ninth annual State of the Schools which will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023!
