What is the One Card Program?

  • The Downey Library One Card Program is a partnership between Downey Unified School District and the Downey City Library. It allows students to use their school ID card as a library card—no separate registration needed!

Who Can Participate?

  • All DUSD students (TK–12) are automatically enrolled.
  • Parents may opt out by submitting a form to the school.

How Does It Work?

  • Student ID = Library Card. Simply present your school ID at the Downey City Library.
  • Valid for one school year. If a student graduates or leaves the district, the ID will no longer work as a library card.

Benefits for Students

  • Borrow Books: Check out up to 3 physical books.
  • Digital Access: eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, and research databases.
  • Free Online Tutoring: Homework help and academic support.
  • Library Resources: Computers, study rooms, and more.

Why It Matters

  • Convenience: No extra card needed.
  • Equity: Every student gets access to library resources.
  • Learning Support: Tools for reading, research, and homework success.
