On September 12th, we proudly celebrated AVID Day nationwide, marking 45 years of AVID’s impactful journey in education. At Sussman Middle School, the day was filled with meaningful activities to honor this special occasion.
Staff members were encouraged to wear their college gear or any AVID shirt to show their support for the event. The stage area was thoughtfully set up with a large map where staff could mark the colleges they attended. Small pennants and graduation caps were provided for everyone to write their name and alma mater, which were then placed on the map to create a visual celebration of our community’s educational journeys.
Additionally, staff members shared their motivations for pursuing careers in education by completing a “MY Why” sheet, reflecting the heart behind their dedication. Teachers also engaged their students with “College Talk” discussions to inspire and encourage college readiness.
The support in celebrating AVID’s legacy is a prime example of our school community’s commitment to education!
