U.S. News & World Report has announced its 2026-27 Best High Schools rankings, once again recognizing Downey Unified’s two comprehensive high schools among the leading public high schools in California and across the nation.

Both campuses ranked within the top 16% nationally and approximately the top quarter of California high schools. Warren High School earned the No. 419 spot among 1,678 ranked California high schools and placed No. 2,612 nationally. Downey High School ranked No. 442 statewide and No. 2,740 nationwide.

A Recognition of Our Students, Staff and Schools

The annual U.S. News Best High Schools rankings evaluate public high schools using six factors, including student achievement on state assessments, graduation rates, college readiness, curriculum breadth and outcomes for underserved students. For the 2026-27 rankings, nearly 18,000 public high schools were ranked nationwide using data from the 2023-24 school year.

Warren High School received an overall score of 85.44 out of 100 and was ranked No. 198 among high schools in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Downey High School earned an overall score of 84.73 and ranked No. 209 in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.
