Transitioning from elementary school to middle school can be challenging and a little scary for students. It’s a big step! At Downey Unified, we ease our students into the next phase of their education with a welcoming atmosphere and by building excitement for all of the new opportunities our middle school campuses provide. Our variety of clubs, electives, athletics and art options encourage students to discover and foster new interests and talents.

1:1 iPad Initiative
Each student in middle school takes home a DUSD iPad for continuity in learning at home and on campus.
Elective Pathway Opportunities
Students can explore pathways that seamlessly connect to high school programs, including strong AVID and Career Technical Education (CTE) options.
Award-Winning Schools
All of our middle schools have received national recognition as Schools to Watch. In addition, two of our schools have also earned the Gold Ribbon Award and the Title I Academic Achieving School Award.
State-of-the-Art Modern Facilities
Thanks to the community support of Measure O, our middle schools are being renovated to include state-of-the-art technology and first-rate facilities.
