Warren High School proudly recognizes rising Seniors Alexandria Fuentes and Amy Flores, members of the Class of 2027, for earning acceptance into two of the nation’s most prestigious and highly competitive STEM summer programs.
Alexandria Fuentes has been selected for the NASA STEM Enhancement in Earth and Space Science (SEES) Summer Internship at The University of Texas at Austin Center for Space Research. Through this nationally competitive program funded by NASA, Alexandria will collaborate with scientists and engineers to conduct authentic research using real NASA data. Her work will include exploring Earth-observing satellite data, analyzing imagery from the International Space Station, and contributing to projects involving space exploration, including Lunar and Mars research.
With more than 3,000 applicants competing for just 118 on-site positions, Alexandria’s selection reflects an exceptional level of achievement. During the program, she will complete advanced coursework in Earth and space science, engage with NASA subject matter experts, and spend time in Austin conducting hands-on research and working directly with professionals at the forefront of space science and engineering.

Amy Flores has been selected to attend MITES Summer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a highly selective six-week residential STEM program for rising seniors. At MIT, Amy will live on campus and complete a rigorous academic experience that mirrors a semester of college coursework, including advanced classes in math, science, and humanities.
MITES Summer provides students with immersive, hands-on learning experiences, including project-based coursework in real-world STEM applications, exposure to cutting-edge research, and opportunities to collaborate with peers from across the country. The program also offers college readiness support and connections with STEM professionals, helping students build both academic and personal skills for future success.
Both programs are nationally recognized for their rigor, selectivity, and commitment to developing the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. Alexandria and Amy join an elite group of students who will engage in transformative learning experiences that extend far beyond the classroom.
Warren High School is incredibly proud to have Alexandria Fuentes and Amy Flores represent the Class of 2027 through these outstanding achievements and looks forward to all they will accomplish in the future. Go Bears!
