Grades & Graduation Requirements
Dear Seniors & Families,
On Friday, May 1st, teachers are submitting grades for our last progress report. On Monday, May 4th you will receive the final progress report for your 12th grade student. This progress report will let you know if the student is at risk of failing one or more of their classes.
With a D/F, they are risking one or more of the following:
- Participation in graduation – students who do not meet graduation requirements do not participate in the graduation ceremony
- Attending summer school to make up course and earn diploma
- College/university letters of acceptance being rescinded
To support Seniors who are in danger of failing a class they need to graduate, Seniors will be enrolled in a Study Skills class during their Advisory or Off Roll period(s). They will be assigned an interventionist to help them improve their grade by completing assignments and missing assessments.
The placement will remain until the student improves their grade to a C or higher and is no longer at risk of failing the course. If their grade falls below a C again, they will lose their Advisory or Off Roll for the rest of the semester AND will have to attend school during Senior Week.
Seniors who will be enrolled in Study Skills class will be notified by Friday, May 8. The class begins on Monday, May 11 during Period 1, 2, 7 or 8 for Seniors who have not improved their grade to a C.
Please note the following important expectations if the student is enrolled in a Study Skills class:
- Attendance in the Study Skills class is mandatory.
- Missing this class may place your student’s eligibility for prom and other senior activities at risk.
- Once the student’s grade improves to a C or better, they may drop the Study Skills course and regain their off‑roll/advisory period
WHAT SENIORS CAN DO NOW
We encourage you to check Q Parent Connection & Student Connection with your student for any D/Fs and have them turn in missing assignments by Friday, May 1st. You can also contact your student’s teacher to discuss their academic progress.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your student’s progress further, please contact your student’s teacher: Warren Directory.
