Students completing this four-year program will receive recognition at the graduation ceremony. Students will receive the distinguished grab medallion, the distinguished grad notation on their transcript, and the distinguished grad seal on their diploma.
DISTINGUISHED GRADS EXEMPLIFY THE HIGHEST STANDARDS IN ALL SIX OF THESE CATEGORIES:
- ACTIVITIES: Participate for at least one semester in at least one extra-curricular activity in the school which has an end product.
Examples of activities may include sports, theater production, pep squad, band, ASB, art/photo exhibit, newspaper,
yearbook. (Involvement in a campus club ONLY fulfills this requirement if you have a minimum of 40 hours of participation in the club. These 40 hours would be in ADDITION to, NOT part of, your total “Service” hours) - ATTENDANCE: Have exemplary attendance for all four years.
Prospective distinguished grads are required to check their attendance records at the end of each semester to be sure that absences and tardies are not excessive. A student who has any truancies and/or unresolved absences for any year will be eliminated from the Distinguished Grad Program unless they are resolved by the end of each semester. - CITIZENSHIP: A student shall not receive any suspensions or expulsions. In citizenship no 5’s and only one 4 throughout their four years.
- COURSE WORK: Complete all classes required for entrance into the California State University or the University of California schools, meeting “a-g” requirements with a grade of “C” or better.
- GRADES: Maintain cumulative State Weighted G.P.A. 3.0+.
- SERVICE: Perform at least 80 hours for class of 2024 & 2025, and at least 100 hours for the class of 2026 and beyond which is defined as voluntary service performed for a nonprofit community or school organization and without any form of payment to the volunteer. Submit BLUE verification forms (available in the guidance office) as hours are completed.
Verification must be submitted to the guidance office before 3:30 p.m. by the last day of the third quarter of the senior year.
Attendance
Please report any absence of your student to the attendance office either by writing a note or by telephone. All absences must be reported by a parent or guardian on each day of absence unless the number of days of absence is stated on the first call or note.
ABSENCES MUST BE CLEARED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN WITHIN 10 DAYS. After the 10-day grace period has expired, students will be assigned Saturday School(s) to clear absences.
Any absences in the past years cannot be changed.
Community Service Hours
One of the requirements for Distinguished Graduate is to perform school or extra-curricular community service which is defined as voluntary service performed for a non-profit community or school organization and without any form of payment to the volunteer.
*Class of 2026 are required to perform at least 100 hours.
