Warren High School’s FIRST Robotics Competition Team 9408, the Warbots, closed out their 2025 season with a major milestone: winning Chezy Champs 2025 in San Jose, California.

The Challenge

Chezy Champs is widely regarded as the toughest off-season tournament in the world. Dubbed the “World Championship of the Off-Season,” it features powerhouse programs, Hall of Fame inductees, Einstein finalists, and even the reigning World Champions, Team 2910 Jack in the Bot.

Alliance Selection

After a strong showing in qualifications, the Warbots were chosen by Team 604 Quixilver as part of the #6 alliance. Joining them were Team 581 Blazing Bulldogs and Team 841 BioMechs, forming a versatile and determined group.

The connection with Team 581 added extra meaning. Many of the Bulldogs’ mentors are longtime friends of the Warbots’ coaching staff, including Arjun, a mentor for 581, whose brother Ravi is a lead mentor for the Warbots. This family and friendship bond made the victory even more special.

Road to the Championship

  • Round 1: Defeated Alliance 3 (9450/5940/5468) — 277–261
  • Round 2: Defeated Alliance 2 (4414/694/3045) — 263–238
  • Round 3: Upset Alliance 1 (254/2910/972) — 271–269 to reach the finals
  • Finals (best-of-three): Beat Alliance 1 again — 259–242 (F1) and 284–269 (F2) to win the championship

A Defining Moment

This victory marked a breakthrough in the Warbots’ young history. By defeating two of the most celebrated programs in FIRST Robotics, Teams 2910 and 254, Warren proved they can compete at the highest level. Beyond the scores, the championship celebrated the friendships and family connections that made the achievement even more meaningful.

The Warbots are now turning their attention to the 2026 FRC season, ready to build on the momentum and lessons gained at Chezy Champs.
