Warren High School’s Folklórico Herencia has quickly grown into a cherished part of our school community. What began in 2023 as a small, student-led club of just 15 dancers has transformed into a full class offered during the school day, now serving nearly 60 students.
The name Herencia, meaning “heritage,” was chosen by students to honor the pride, culture, and tradition expressed through Mexican folklórico dance and music. With both a Junior Varsity class for beginners and a Varsity class for advanced dancers, the program welcomes students of all experience levels and is open to everyone!
Folklórico Herencia has shared its vibrant performances at a wide range of events, including Angels Stadium, DUSD’s Mariachi Night, St. Mary’s Hospital’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, the East LA Mexican Independence Day Parade, a performance at the Whittier Mobile Country Club Mother’ Day Celebration, and multiple DUSD school and community celebrations.

The program is guided by an incredible leadership team:
- Maestra: Cindy Adame
- Technician: Alicia Mendibles
- Parent Volunteer: Maria Andrade
Student leadership is also at the heart of Folklórico Herencia, with this year’s Executive Board leading the way:
- President: Emily Andrade
- Treasurer: Siara Valdovinos
- Business Manager: Yaretzi Trujillo
Through their artistry, dedication, and teamwork, Folklórico Herencia dancers not only keep cultural traditions alive but also bring joy and connection to our Warren community and beyond.
