Warren High School is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathway in Fire Science. This exciting program is led by retired City of Downey Fire Chief, Dan Hurlock, who brings decades of professional experience, leadership, and real-world knowledge into the classroom.

Through the Fire Science Pathway, students will explore the foundations of fire safety, emergency response, rescue operations, and the science behind firefighting. The program also emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and leadership—skills that are essential not only in fire service, but in any career within public safety.
College Credit Opportunities
Warren is proud to partner with Rio Hondo College to offer dual enrollment opportunities. Students who successfully complete Fire Tech I will earn 3 college units for FTEC 101, giving them a head start toward their college education and future career goals.
Hands-On Experience
To make learning as realistic as possible, the Fire Science classroom is equipped with a fully outfitted, non-drivable ambulance. Here, students can practice real-world emergency scenarios, sharpen their problem-solving skills, and gain confidence in high-pressure situations.

A Pathway to Public Service
The Fire Science Pathway offers Warren Bears a unique opportunity to serve their communities, explore careers in fire service, emergency medicine, and public safety, or simply take on the challenge of a one-of-a-kind program.
Warren High School is thrilled to provide this innovative pathway and looks forward to seeing students grow as leaders, first responders, and future public servants.
Looking Ahead: EMT Training
Beginning next school year (26-27), students in the second-year course will have the opportunity to enroll in an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class. This advanced option will provide valuable hands-on training and industry-recognized skills while preparing students for the rigorous EMT certification exam, which they will be eligible to take once they turn 18.
