The Downey/Warren football game is the biggest game of the season for both teams. It is so popular that extra stand have to be brought in to accommodate the 8,000 fans. This year the game was also regional game of the week on Bally Sports West, so for those fans that couldn’t get a prized ticket to watch in person could watch from the comfort of their home.

Leading up to the game both schools have rivalry week spirit days. Warren students dress up as Downey Dorks and Downey students dress up as Warren Wimps. Students look forward to this every year and school spirit is at al all-time high right now.

“It’s incomparable, it’s truly incomparable. I think it’s amazing that we’re able to give this to our student-athletes. The fact that they get to play in front of 8,000 fans in what becomes a bull-style stadium and it’s such a storied tradition.”

Samantha Miyahara, Warren High School Athletic Director
