Rick Trejo is a lifetime resident of Downey. He attended St. Raymond’s School and graduated Downey High School in 1979. Rick played on the 1979 CIF Basketball Champion Team at DHS, the last team to do so. Rick attended Cal State Fullerton and received his BS in Chemistry in 1986. He received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from USC in 1991. Rick married his high school sweetheart Karen McCaughan, also a lifetime resident of Downey in 1989 at the First Presbyterian Church of Downey. They have four children: James, Gary, Karen and Katherine.
Rick was an in-house pharmacist at Downey Regional Medical Center from 1986 to 2003 and now has his practice with Pacific Pharmacy, Downey. Rick has been actively involved in the Downey community his entire life. He has volunteered with Northwest Downey Little League, YMCA Junior Laker Basketball, DJAA and AYSO. Rick served on the City of Downey Planning Commission from 1997-2000. Rick was elected to the Downey City Council on November 7, 2000 and re-elected on November 2, 2004. He has twice served as the Mayor of Downey (2002-2003 and 2006-2007).
