Immigration Resources

Downey Unified School District is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for every student and their family. We believe all students deserve access to a high-quality education in a welcoming space where they feel seen, valued, and protected. In alignment with our district’s policies and values, we stand by our immigrant families and affirm their rights to attend school free from fear or discrimination.

Know Your Rights!

  1. All people, regardless of immigration status, have rights under the U.S. Constitution. The Immigrant Legal Resource Center’s (ILRC) Red Cards help people assert their rights and defend themselves in many situations, such as when I.C.E. agents go to a home.
  2. When interrogated by federal immigration officials, you have the right to stay silent. Hand the Red Card to the officer and remember that you do not have to answer any questions
