YEAR 1: Fire Science I

Course Description
This is your gateway into the world of firefighting and emergency services! In this hands-on course, you’ll learn the foundations of fire protection—from how fires start and spread to how professional firefighters control and extinguish them. You’ll explore the science behind fire behavior, discover the different roles within public and private fire services, and gain a deeper understanding of how fire departments operate within local government. Outcomes

Students who complete Fire Science I will take an exam to receive a Certificate in IS 100 — Introduction to Incident Command System (FEMA) and IS 200 — Introduction to Basic Incident (FEMA)
