It can be a competitive field, so getting a head start in growing and honing skills is key. Using industry-standard tools and professional techniques, students will finish their courses ready to join the workforce or take their next education steps.

Film & Video Production Pathway

A career behind the camera awaits! Gain the skills necessary to write, plan, film, and edit a successful video project. This pathway sets students up for success in film or broadcast journalism fields.

Courses

YEAR 1: Film & Video Production I
Course Description
Dive into filmmaking: explore the artistry and technical elements of successful film production. Students will be introduced to the early days of cinema, how to film with a DSLR camera, Adobe Premiere Pro video editing software, how to write a script and develop a story, and the successful elements of different film genres.

This course meets the University of California F-VPA requirements.

YEAR 2: Film & Video Production II
Course Description
Students will further their video production skills, exploring different aspects of the media and entertainment industry to help them choose the right career path. The course provides students with the opportunity to self-examine their past work, practice journalistic interviewing and video production, produce music videos and, ultimately, create a demo reel for a visual portfolio.

This course meets the University of California F-VPA requirements.

Outcomes

Students who complete Film and Video Production I will have the opportunity to receive a certification of Digital Video using Adobe Premier Pro.

Students who complete Film and Video Production II will have the opportunity to receive a certification of Digital Video using Adobe Premier Pro.

Course Description
This course will give you hands-on experience creating your own beats, recording tracks, and producing professional-level audio. Whether you dream of being a music producer, sound engineer, or artist, this class lets you step into those shoes and explore the industry from the inside out. You’ll build your own portfolio, work on real projects, and develop skills that lead to exciting careers in the audio and music industry—or just help you level up your personal creativity.
