We recently had an engineering challenge for our students to promote the Learner Profile traits of risk-takers, thinkers, caring, reflective, and effective communicators.
Defining the Problem…
Criteria: The challenge was to build a structure capable of holding at least five sixth-grade science textbooks a minimum of 4 inches above the table. Students must be able to carry the structure to the testing area in one piece.
Constraints: The student’s building materials are limited to 3 pieces of paper and 2 feet of masking tape.
Our students went above and beyond and managed to create a structure that held up to 15 books!
