What is an IB Education?
IB students take responsibility for their own learning.
Our programmes help IB students:
- ask challenging questions
- think critically
- learn across disciplines
- develop research skills proven to help them in higher education
What Does an IB Student Look Like?
At the core of all IB Programmes is the learner profile, 10 attributes fostered in students that promote their development as responsible members of their local, national, and global communities. IB learners strive to be:
Inquirers
knowledgeable
thinkers
Communicators
principled
open-minded
caring
risk-takers
balanced
reflective
What is the Middle Years Programme (MYP)?
The Middle Years Programme is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world by empowering them to inquire about a wide range of issues and global ideas resulting in creative and reflective thinkers.
Units begin with engaging questions such as: How do I learn best? Why do I have to learn this? What is the long term impact?
Students who complete the MYP are well-prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Programme in high school.
How the IB MYP Helps Develop Students
Parents who want the best possible education for their children choose the MYP because it includes:

Rigorous Learning Objectives
Ensures breadth and depth of understanding through study in eight subject groups.

Student-Centered Learning

International Perspectives
Helps students appreciate their own culture and personal history, as well as the values and traditions
of others.

Multi-Lingual
Education
Every student in the program will have a language class starting in 6th grade!

Develop Learning Strategies
Students focus on approaches to learning with a critical lens and evaluate application of their knowledge in real-world scenarios.
A Foundation for Success
The MYP encourages critical thinking and learning by doing and experiencing. Subjects are not taught in isolation, instead, students are encouraged to make connections between subjects allowing for a deeper understanding of the material, not memorization of facts. Students are trained to organize and plan their work, meet deadlines, persist, and think positively, among other skills which help students manage their own learning, all tools that will serve them during their entire academic career and beyond.

IB Approaches to Learning (ATL Skills)
ATL skills are tools for learning, supporting the IB belief that a large influence on a student’s education is not only what you learn, but also how you learn.
The Approaches to Learning (5 categories):
- Communication Skills
- Thinking Skills
- Social Skills
- Self-Management Skills
- Researching Skills
A focus on the development of ATL skills help students be successful in college, career and life.
