We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the answer itself.

– Lloyd Alexander
An inquirer is someone who is naturally curious and looks for ways of thinking outside the box, asking questions, and looking for more than one answer or ways of doing things. Inquirers are innovative and have an enthusiasm for learning, investigating, and researching.

As inquirers, we strive to:

  • think critically and creatively
  • build on prior knowledge
  • research and gather information
  • reflect on information and analyze the findings
  • understand there may be more than one answer
  • refine their findings and start the inquiry process again

Inquirers help find solutions to problems, identifying things that could be done differently. Children are gifted with natural curiosity, and our goal in IB is to continue ignite the spark and desire to learn more and gain more knowledge of how and why things work the way they do.
