There is no such thing as work-life balance – it is all life. The balance has to be with you.
– Sadhguru
Staying balanced is a difficult task, even as an adult, which is why it is important to lay the foundational groundwork in our young students.
A balanced learner understands the importance of academic, physical, and emotional balance (mind, body, and heart) to achieve personal well-being for themselves and others. A balanced student will understand how their lives are interconnected to people around them, and the importance of being able to assess their strengths as well as understand their limitations to support their personal development.
For example, it is important for a student to learn how much work or extracurricular activities they can handle without becoming overloaded. If they are stressing out with too much on their plate, they may need to refocus on their health and how they treat their body through healthy food, exercise, and enough rest. While being academically successful is a good goal to obtain, it should not be at the expense of their mental health.
A thinker is a student who considers a problem from both creative and critical perspectives. They are always willing to discuss complex questions. While they are eager to share their thoughts, they are also able to openly listen to their peers. Thinkers are reasonable and follow a strong moral compass.
