New Student Orientation

Attendance Expectations

Class attendance is an integral part of the learning experience at Columbus High School and Woodruff Academy. Students must actively participate in instructional activities designed by the teacher and missing these learning experiences may affect students’ academic success. Students must abide by the following attendance expectations:

  • Attend in person classes daily as assigned in student schedule.

  • Attendance will be taken daily in each block/period and students will communicate daily with assigned teachers in order to be marked “Present”.

  • Parents will inform the office, either by phone, email or via parentconnection.dusd.net, if the student is unable to attend class and the reason (sick, vacation, court, etc).

Reporting/Clearing Absences

Please report any absence of your student to the attendance office either by telephone, email or parentconnection.dusd.net. All absences must be reported by a parent or guardian on each day of absence unless the number of days of absence is stated on the first call/email.

ABSENCES MUST BE CLEARED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN WITHIN 10 DAYS.
