We’re thrilled to announce that this year, Ward Elementary is launching the AVID program for all 5th graders! AVID, short for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a nationally recognized program that provides students with the tools and strategies they need to be successful in school and beyond.
AVID helps students develop valuable skills such as staying organized, taking effective notes, reading critically, and participating in thoughtful discussions. These habits not only boost academic performance now but also help prepare students for the transition to middle school, high school, and even college.
By introducing AVID at the 5th grade level, we’re setting our students up for long-term success and building confidence that will carry them into every stage of their education. We can’t wait to see how our Gauldin and Ward 5th graders thrive in their very first year of AVID!
