What You Need to Know
As we gear up for the 2025–26 school year, there’s one important thing all Downey Unified families need to do before the first day of school: complete your Annual Verification starting July 1.

What is Annual Verification?
You may know this process as “Registration” from previous years, but we’ve updated the name to better reflect what this step actually is: verifying and confirming your child’s existing information in our system.
This includes contact information, emergency contacts, medical info, and any changes that might have happened since last school year. It’s not for selecting classes or enrolling a new student—it’s simply to make sure everything on file is correct and up to date.
Why the Name Change?
The term “Registration” has caused a bit of confusion over the years. It sounds a lot like enrollment, and at the middle and high school levels, students already register for classes in the spring. That’s why we’re now calling this important step Annual Verification—because it’s exactly that: a yearly check-in to verify your student’s information.
Who Needs to Do It?
Every Downey Unified family must complete Annual Verification before the start of school, whether your child is returning to their campus or starting at a new one within the district. If you’re brand new to Downey Unified and still need to enroll, head to enroll.dusd.net instead—that’s a different process.
How to Complete It
Starting July 1, log into Parent Connect to complete your Annual Verification. It only takes a few minutes, but it’s a must-do before your child starts the new school year in August.
Annual Verification opens: July 1, 2024
Log in at parentconnect.dusd.net or use your Parent Connect Portal
*Required for all returning and continuing students
Taking a few minutes to complete your Annual Verification helps us make sure we’re ready to support your student from day one. Thanks for being a part of the Downey Unified family!
Let’s make 2025–26 a great year together! 🎉
