Technology Enhanced Learning

We “Rise Up and Shine On!”

At Lewis Elementary School we believe in opportunity! Teachers and staff passionately pursue excellence by sparking curiosity and affording our students the opportunity to be creative, innovative, think deeply, and become leaders who communicate ideas that embrace dialogue and foster teamwork to collaborate, question and solve problems.

We believe our students must have voice and choice in their learning. Student agency is key. We provide an environment where students think critically, communicate ideas clearly, co-create, and problem solve any challenge put before them. We celebrate flexible thinking and create spaces where our students develop the skills necessary to succeed in future endeavors.

“We believe in providing robust opportunities for our students to think deeply and creatively, allowing them to have voice and choice while utilizing an iPad as a tool for learning across all content areas. We are committed to providing a learning environment where our students are engaged, challenged and are on a continuous path toward innovation. ”

– Jennifer Robbins, Director of Elementary Education

Tech Squad

Our All-Star Tech Squad is a team of student digital leaders who promote creativity, inspire, and teach strategies for communicating ideas using a variety of tools. Tech Squad partners with other classrooms to provide personalized support and mentors younger students and teachers that are learning new forms of technology.

An exciting role that our tech students take lead on is producing news segment videos shown schoolwide which highlight and celebrate their unique strengths and creativity. In addition, squad members lead district wide technology expos, present at board of education meetings, principal meetings, teacher tech fairs, and serve as a model program for other school sites across our district.

Innovation Labs

Students have access to an Innovation and Design Lab where they interact with the principles of engineering and design. On any given day students in the lab build and program robots, write code in Scratch Jr. or Swift Playgrounds, and collaborate on unique 3D designs. As a result, students are highly engaged and unleash their creativity.
