Our School

Meet Our Principal

Tami Francis, Principal

Mrs. Tami Francis

With great excitement and anticipation, I welcome all new and returning students to the 2023-2024 school year!

Lewis is truly an excellent school with amazing teachers, staff, and parents who work together to support every child. We will continue to provide a well-rounded education that is assets-based and builds upon students’ passions, gifts, and talents. We are committed to a safe school environment where students’ social emotional health is supported, and students are able to grow and thrive in a positive school climate. I have no doubt that our students will make an impact both now and, in the future, as they grow in curiosity and creativity, take responsible risks, embrace diversity, and practice empathy. In order to meet our 21st Century learning needs of our students, our staff creates opportunities to engage students in critical thinking, innovative ideas, communication, and collaboration, while promoting students of strong character.

As our principal, I believe in an open-door policy, and I encourage you to reach out whenever you have questions or want to collaborate. I look forward to getting to know every family more, and building a partnership that benefits our children. I look forward to continuing to support the greatness that exists at Lewis Elementary. Thank you for your support of our school and staff. Here’s to an amazing year of growth and success!

PBIS

PBIS: Let’s Learn More…

“Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three-tiered framework for improving and integrating all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. PBIS is a proactive approach that schools use to improve school safety and promote positive behavior.”

PBIS HAS A FEW IMPORTANT GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

  • Our students learn behavioral expectations for different situations
  • Our students learn expected behaviors for various school settings through explicit instruction and opportunities to practice and receive feedback
  • Supporting students early can prevent more serious behavior problems
  • We believe each student has strengths, so our school gives many kinds of behavior supports
  • Teaching behavior should be based on research and science
  • Our school gathers and uses data to make decisions about behavior interventions
  • Our school staff members are consistent in how they encourage expected behavior and discourage infractions
