Free Summer Meals for Kids & Teens: 2026 Program Details

Summer is a time for growth and fun, and the Downey Unified School District’s Food Service team wants to ensure every child has the energy they need to enjoy it! Our Summer Meal Program provides free breakfast and lunch to all children aged 18 and under. No registration or documentation is required. Just visit one of our participating sites to enjoy a healthy meal with friends.

Meal Locations and Schedules

Meal service dates vary by location to accommodate different school schedules. Please remember that children must be present, and all meals must be consumed on-site since grab-and-go or drive-thru options are not available. 

Group A Sites

  • Locations: Gallatin, Gauldin, Lewis, Price, Doty, and Stauffer
  • Dates: June 5 – July 7, 2026
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday
  • Closed: June 19 and July 3

Group B Sites

  • Locations: Downey and Warren
  • Dates: June 11 – July 16, 2026
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday
  • Closed: June 19 and July 3

Daily Meal Times (All Locations)

  • Breakfast: 8:45 AM – 9:15 AM
  • Lunch: 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Proper nutrition serves as the foundation for an enjoyable summer break, and we are proud to support our families by providing fresh, daily meals.
