There are many ways Downey Unified ties STEAM into daily education, but a crowd favorite is our robotics. All Downey Unified students, TK through 12th grade, have access to various age-appropriate, project-based activities. Our students have opportunities to design, build, and program robots with varying difficulties, starting as young as TK. Not only can our students learn beneficial engineering skills, but they can also gain essential skills to help them in everyday life, including teamwork, perseverance, communication, collaboration, project management, and critical thinking.
We invite you to see this in action at our 5th Annual Robolympics!
5th Annual Robolympics
When: April 20, 2024
Doors open at 8:00 am
The competition begins at 8:30 am

See our students showcase their knowledge in robotics and coding as 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students from all our elementary schools compete against each other with robots they built. Teams will guide their robots through different events and must complete specific timed tasks to win.
Come root on all our teams and get a first-hand look at STEAM education in action and the sportsmanship and teamwork that Downey Unified promotes within our community.
