At our first Staff Development Day of the 22/23 school year, our Food Service Assistant IIs gathered at Warren High School to work on developing a plant-based veggie bowl recipe. This recipe development was in direct response to feedback provided by our high school students on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee where these members requested more vegetarian/plant-based school meal options.

After experimenting with various ingredients, cooking methods, and flavor combinations, the team came up with four recipes that will be implemented throughout the year at the middle and high school level. The first item rolled out at the end of November was the Sesame Noodle Bowl which has noodles, cabbage, carrots, edamame, wonton strips, sunflower seeds, sesame dressing and orange wedges…YUM!
