As you’ve seen for yourself over the last two years, COVID-19 has disrupted schools across the country in countless ways, including school meals. School closures at the start of the pandemic decreased demand for school meals and food services supplies and thus less was produced.

Now that schools are back in session, the demand is as high as ever, but the supply chains need to catch up from the lull. Due to these supply chain shortages, schools are facing challenges receiving food, paperware, and other materials.

Please know that despite these challenges, our team at DUSD Food Services is doing everything in our power to make sure our students have the nutritious meals they need for energy and focus during the school day. We’ve become masters at creatively substituting ingredients and ordering meal supplies as far in advance as possible. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during these times! Please contact us if you have any questions.
