We hope your Spring Break has been filled with rest, relaxation, and a chance to recharge. As we return to campus, we are officially entering the “Final Stretch” of the school year.

April is a significant month for our community. Not only is it the home stretch for academic goals, but it is also National Stress Awareness Month. This year, we want to highlight how these two things go hand-in-hand: Consistent attendance is one of the best ways to keep student stress levels low.

Why Presence is the Best Stress-Reliever

When students are in class every day, they stay “in the loop.” Missing even a few days can lead to a “snowball effect” where missed assignments and lessons pile up, creating unnecessary anxiety. By prioritizing attendance, students can:

  • Stay Connected: Regular interaction with classmates and teachers provides a vital support system.
  • Stay Informed: Understanding lessons in real-time prevents the stress of trying to learn complex material alone.
  • Stay Involved: From yearbooks and sports, to promotions and final projects, being present ensures they don’t miss the memories that make school fun.

Your Presence is Powerful: Staying Balanced

Through our Your Presence is Powerful initiative, we’ve seen incredible growth in our attendance rates this year. To help our students finish strong while keeping their mental well-being a priority, we encourage these healthy habits during the busy month of April:

StrategyHow it Helps
Talk It OutEncourage your student to share their “end-of-year” worries with a trusted adult or friend.
The “Zzz” FactorSleep is the ultimate stress-buster. Aim for 9–12 hours of sleep for elementary students and 8–10 for teens.
Belly BreathingA few deep breaths can reset the nervous system during a tough test or busy day.
Daily MovementJust 60 minutes of activity can lower stress hormones and improve focus in the classroom.

Finishing Strong Together

We know that the final weeks of school can feel fast-paced. As the weather warms up and summer vacation nears, let’s work together to keep the momentum going.

A Note on Health: While we want every student in class, please remember, if your child is truly ill, they should stay home to recover. Simply contact your school office to let us know.

Let’s make these final months count by showing up for ourselves and each other. Because when we are present, prepared, and supported, we can handle anything the “final stretch” throws our way.
