Our logo and overall brand design communicate the core values of the LEAP program—energy, growth, and possibility. With a youthful and vibrant feel, the brand appeals to students by creating a sense of fun and curiosity around learning. At the same time, it offers parents peace of mind, signaling a program that is nurturing, supportive, and developmentally appropriate. LEAP strikes a thoughtful balance between structure and freedom—encouraging children to explore, grow, and make meaningful progress.

Brand is the perceived emotion a person gets when referring to a business, product, or in this case, a school district. It is everything Downey Unified stands for, reflects and represents. It is Downey Unified’s personality and how we now communicate with our community.

Logo Usage Guidelines: Do’s & Don’ts

To keep our brand looking sharp, professional, and instantly recognizable, it’s important to use the logo correctly across all platforms. Here are a few quick rules to follow:

Use the right file for the job.

  • Use the .AI vector file for any print materials—this ensures the logo stays crisp at any size.
  • Use .PNG or .JPG files for digital content, such as social media, websites, and presentations.

Place the logo on a clean, uncluttered background.

  • White or neutral backgrounds work best to maintain clarity and impact.

Keep the logo’s proportions intact.

  • Always scale the logo up or down uniformly to avoid distortion.

Don’t stretch, squish, or warp the logo.
Keep its original shape intact—no one likes a wobbly logo.

Don’t place the logo over busy patterns or images.
It should always be easy to read and stand out—no guessing games.

Don’t alter the logo’s colors, effects, or orientation.
Let’s keep it consistent so everyone knows it’s us at a glance.

Leap’s Mascot

Our mascot serves as a lively and engaging brand ambassador, designed to connect with students, families, and the broader community in a fun and approachable way. It adds warmth and personality to our communications, especially in student-centered and informal contexts such as events, social media, and school spirit materials.

However, the mascot should not be used in place of the official logo. While the mascot enhances our brand expression, the logo remains the primary visual identifier of our organization and should always be used for official communications, signage, marketing materials, and any instance where brand recognition and consistency are essential.
