Griffiths Middle School students in both general education and special education competed in the 2nd Annual Unified Track Meet.

Unified sports brings together students from general education and those with disabilities to participate in sports, fostering teamwork, inclusion, and mutual respect. Through this program, students collaborate, build friendships, and experience the joy of competition, all while promoting leadership skills and positive interaction. The Downey Unified Sports Track Meet is a highlight, where students showcase their talents and abilities, with some even earning the opportunity to advance to the Special Olympics. These programs offer incredible opportunities for growth, leadership, and creating a more inclusive school community.

Our Thunderbirds did amazing! Our pep squad joined parents as fans in the stands and our athletes showed off for them. We ended the day with a lot of medals and suntans.
