At Warren High School, ESports has grown into a full program where competitive gaming and classroom learning come together. Students who join the program step into a team environment that teaches collaboration, strategy, and digital literacy. They try out for one of our squads and train in titles that range from College Football and Madden NFL to Rocket League, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Valorant, Fortnite, Splatoon 3, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Marvel Rivals, and Pok\u00e9mon UNITE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once selected, players practice during 5th period and again after school, usually two to three days a week from Monday through Thursday. Matches take place one or two times a week, giving students regular opportunities to test their skills, learn from real competition, and work toward making playoffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes the program unique is that it\u2019s both a sport and a class. Students earn credit while taking part in structured practices, competitions, and lessons about the growing world of gaming and technology. They also explore pathways connected to ESports, including broadcasting, game development, digital media, and other STEAM careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many Warren alumni continue their ESports journey in college, competing on teams and clubs at schools like Cal Poly Pomona, UC Irvine, and UC Davis. College-level ESports programs offer scholarships, competitive leagues, and opportunities to gain leadership and teamwork experience while pursuing higher education. Beyond playing competitively, students can also explore careers in game design, software engineering, digital media, streaming, and other technology-driven fields, giving them a head start in the fast-growing world of gaming and STEAM. PlayVS also offers scholarships for students who compete in CIF-sanctioned titles such as Rocket League, League of Legends, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warren competes in both Fall and Spring seasons through PlayVS, NASEF, and CIF leagues. This Fall, seven teams made the playoffs across the PlayVS Pacific and NASEF divisions. Los Reyes, our Super Smash Bros team, wrapped up their run earlier this week, but several teams are still battling through the bracket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re so proud of the work our players and coaches have poured into this season, and we hope everyone will come out and cheer on our ESports team at the DUSD District Championship on Tuesday, December 2nd at the Downey Theatre – its FREE and everyone is invited!
