{"id":15149,"date":"2023-09-22T15:37:07","date_gmt":"2023-09-22T22:37:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.dusd.net\/sussman\/?p=15149"},"modified":"2023-09-22T15:37:12","modified_gmt":"2023-09-22T22:37:12","slug":"inside-the-classroom-engineering-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.dusd.net\/sussman\/inside-the-classroom-engineering-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Inside the Classroom: Engineering Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We recently had an engineering challenge for our students to promote the Learner Profile traits of risk-takers, thinkers, caring, reflective, and effective communicators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Defining the Problem&#8230;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Criteria:<\/strong> The challenge was to build a structure capable of holding at least five sixth-grade science textbooks a minimum of 4 inches above the table. Students must be able to carry the structure to the testing area in one piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Constraints:<\/strong> The student&#8217;s building materials are limited to 3 pieces of paper and 2 feet of masking tape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our students went above and beyond and managed to create a structure that held up to 15 books!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed
