At Sussman, we are constantly amazed by the talent and achievements of our Pioneers. Whether it’s on the field, in the art room, or programming robots, our students continue to impress us with their dedication and hard work. From winning championships to creating stunning works of art, our Pioneers are shining examples of what can be accomplished with passion and determination.

  • 6th grade boys and 8th-grade girls basketball become District Champs
  • Varsity soccer: co-champs with Stauffer MS


  • Marching Band & Drum Major – 1st place in the San Juan Capistrano Swallows Day Parade
  • Jazz Band – Silver Rating at Knott’s Berry Farm, Outstanding Trumpet Section Award
  • Brass Quintet – performed the National Anthem at the Annual Gangs Out Of Downey (GOOD) Luncheon


  • 4 of our students’ art pieces were selected to be displayed at the Autry Museum. The Student Visual Arts Exhibition: Visions of Freedom opens this Saturday
  • PTA Reflections Winner for dance choreography, with the theme of “I am hopeful because…”


  • 1 team qualified for state
  • 4 teams participated in the US Open National Championship in Iowa
  • 1 team qualified for Worlds!!! They’ll be in Texas at the end of the month
