Dr. Box is proud of growing up in Downey, attending Downey schools, teaching in Downey, and even coaching in Downey. Dr. Box has been part of the Downey Unified School District for 20 years.<\/p>\n

Previously, Dr. Box has loved serving as principal of Ward Elementary School and Lewis Elementary School for eleven years. She wholeheartedly believes in engaging our students in critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration, all the while promoting students of strong character. Furthermore, Dr. Box strongly believes in fostering meaningful relationships with students, parents, and entire school communities.<\/p>\n

As a former collegiate athlete, Dr. Box has always been inspired by the concept of teamwork. There is a constant drive to collaborate collectively with people and discover various strengths and opportunities for growth along the way. She loves her family so very much and all things basketball.<\/p>\n

Her favorite quote is from UCLA basketball coach John Wooden, who stated, \u201cMake each day your masterpiece.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Koenig started his career in education in 1999. He spent 7 years as an English teacher at La Mirada High School where he coached football and basketball and has been at Stauffer Middle School since 2006. While at Stauffer Mr. Koenig taught English 8 and was the Dean of Students for 10 years. Mr. Koenig has been happily married since 2001 and has a son (Nick) and a daughter (Gia). Outside of school, Mr. Koenig loves to spend quality time with his family. Mr. Schiavo is excited to return to Stauffer Middle School as Vice Principal! He began his Downey Unified career 15 years ago as an English and AVID Teacher at West (now Stauffer) Middle School. For the last 7 years, he has served as Assistant Principal and Dean of Students at Warren High School. He is passionate about creating meaningful, positive learning experiences for all students. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his two daughters, playing golf and pickleball, traveling, camping, and DJing. Go Spartans!<\/p>\n

This is Mr. Del Rio\u2019s 14<\/span>th<\/span> year at Stauffer as the 7<\/span>th<\/span> Grade Counselor, and he could not imagine being anywhere else. He grew up in Orange County and lives in Placentia with his wife, nephew and his two cats Pebbles and Piper. When he\u2019s not counseling, he enjoys barbecuing, playing the drums and golfing with his friends.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Before counseling, Ms. Greer was a teacher. She is first generation in the U.S. and only spoke Spanish until she learned English with her friends and at school. She is a proud mother to twins, Alex and Ari (seniors in college), and her dog, Mimi. In her free time, she likes to try foods from different cultures, exercise, and sleep.<\/span><\/p>\n
