A highly qualified teacher supports the learning of students who are visually impaired by providing them the necessary textbooks, materials and\/or technology to access the curriculum. Also, VI teachers provide direct services to students to teach them the skills (e.g., Braille) to lead lives that are vocationally, personally and socially satisfying.<\/p>\n
A highly qualified O&M teacher provides services to students who are visually impaired to achieve the maximum safety and independence in mobility that is possible according to needs and capabilities. O&M develop skills that enable students to travel safely and independently in their environments\/communities with proficiency and confidence.<\/p>\n
