{"id":11330,"date":"2022-05-23T22:05:29","date_gmt":"2022-05-23T22:05:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.dusd.net\/riosangabriel\/?p=11330"},"modified":"2022-05-23T22:06:03","modified_gmt":"2022-05-23T22:06:03","slug":"rsg-mustangs-named-co-champions-at-carnival-of-champions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.dusd.net\/riosangabriel\/2022\/05\/23\/rsg-mustangs-named-co-champions-at-carnival-of-champions\/","title":{"rendered":"RSG Mustangs Named Co-Champions at Carnival of Champions!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Saturday, April 2, 2022, was an exciting day for fourth and fifth-grade as they were able to participate in the Dale Lostetter Carnival of Champions after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.&nbsp; This year marked the 56th year that this track and field exhibition was held and, for the first time since 1966, two champions were awarded the first-place trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our very own  Rio San Gabriel Elementary Mustangs  and Lewis Elementary School All-Stars were named Co-Champions of this year\u2019s Carnival of Champions!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am proud to say that Downey Unified embodies and abides by CHARACTER COUNTS! daily and it was evident during this year\u2019s Dale Lostetter Carnival of Champions,\u201d expressed Superintendent, Dr. Garcia. \u201cStudents congratulated one another by giving high fives and handshakes, whether they were on the winning teams or a competing team. Each upheld a strong sense of character and sportsmanlike conduct throughout the day\u2019s competitions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This annual event brought together approximately 500 boys and girls to compete in the following seven track and field events: baskets in a minute, softball throw for distance, standing long jump, 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, four-member team 400-meter relay and mixed-coed relay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are extremely proud of our students! Go Mustangs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\"
