This remarkable success highlights the dedication, talent, and hard work of these young competitors as they continue to establish Downey Unified\u2019s presence in the competitive robotics landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A special congratulations goes to Price Autobots, who won the Excellence Award, They officially qualified to compete at the Elementary CA State Championship on March 1-2, an incredible achievement for Downey Unified\u2019s robotics program. Additionally, middle school teams from Stauffer and Griffiths have also earned spots in the Middle School CA State Championship, set for February 28-March 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/web.dusd.net\/price\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2025\/03\/PriceAutobots_ExcellenceAward_800x500.jpg\" alt=\"happy team with award\" class=\"wp-image-14845\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.dusd.net\/price\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2025\/03\/PriceAutobots_ExcellenceAward_800x500.jpg 800w, https:\/\/web.dusd.net\/price\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2025\/03\/PriceAutobots_ExcellenceAward_800x500-480x300.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 800px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-c7ffe263-404e-4884-9f3e-68a129f031f8\">The Spartan Design Invitational #3: VIQRC 2024-2025 Rapid Relay Blended ES\/MS was held on February 15, 2025, at Stauffer Middle School. This first-ever blended elementary and middle school tournament brought together 32 teams from various schools across Southern California, including participants from our elementary schools, Stauffer and Griffiths middle schools, and other schools in the Los Angeles area. The event showcased an inspiring display of competition, collaboration, and innovation, demonstrating the growing strength of our district&#8217;s robotics program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-23153823-577e-493d-9534-1f44bb2979c1\">Nineteen of our elementary school teams competed for the first time with teams across Southern California, aiming to qualify for state matches, while middle school teams from Stauffer and Griffiths showcased their skills in intense yet collaborative competition. Several teams made remarkable strides at the regional tournament, improving their Skills scores and teamwork performance since competing at Robolympics, the district\u2019s elementary robotics competition, just three weeks prior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-f388de54-0be8-48a6-b126-286bfea02b88\">One of the standout elements of the tournament was the interview portion, a new experience for elementary competitors. Students presented their engineering design processes to judges, explaining iterations, problem-solving strategies, and reflections on their successes and challenges. This component added a valuable critical-thinking and communication element to the competition, further enriching the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-b2dc22d2-0df2-4d2b-85b8-b0c5f3f68b51\">\u201cThe future of our elementary robotics programs are brighter than ever,\u201d said Board of Education President, Linda Salda\u00f1a. \u201cHaving two elementary teams qualify for the State Championship, along with six of our teams ranking in the top 50 and ten in the top 100, is an extraordinary accomplishment.
