We want to ensure our students have access daily to vegetables and proteins while limiting sodium and fats. To achieve these goals, our salad bar is open daily to students and all of our menu items meet <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fns.usda.gov\/cn\/nutrition-standards-school-meals\" target=\"_blank\">National School Lunch Program<\/a>&nbsp;standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Promoting Good Nutrition At Home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can continue to teach your child healthy habits by promoting the following at home:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Serve vegetables with every meal (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myplate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MyPlate.gov<\/a> says half your plate should be fruits and veggies every day)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use whole grains whenever possible (wheat bread, brown rice, oatmeal, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep sugary drinks out of the house and encourage drinking water or milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include a protein with each meal (this doesn&#8217;t always have to be meat, it could be beans, eggs, nuts, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the March blog post for National Nutrition Month, we shared some resources for more tips and specifics on nutrition for each life stage.
