We are excited to invite all K-12 students in our district to participate in the 2026 \u201cNourish to Flourish\u201d Contest<\/strong>, presented by the Southern California School Nutrition Association (SCSNA). This year\u2019s theme, \u201cCelebrating our Berry Sweet School Nutrition Champions,\u201d<\/strong> celebrates the vital role of school nutrition professionals in shaping the health, well-being, and success of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Participate?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

School nutrition professionals in California serve over 4 million children daily<\/strong> and prepare more than 750 million lunches annually<\/strong>. Their work extends beyond providing meals\u2014they create a welcoming, positive environment where students feel cared for and supported. Let\u2019s take this opportunity to recognize their dedication and impact on healthier futures for our children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contest Categories (Choose One)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Students may submit one entry only<\/strong> (no team entries<\/em>) in one of the following categories:
\ud83c\udfa8 Art<\/strong> \u2013 Visual art (drawing, painting, or digital media) showcasing school nutrition professionals or the importance of healthy meals.
\ud83d\udcdd Poetry<\/strong> \u2013 Poems reflecting themes like nutrition, gratitude, or the contributions of the school nutrition team.
\ud83d\udcd6 Short Story<\/strong> \u2013 Stories highlighting the life of nutrition staff, an inspiring moment, or the impact of healthy eating. (Between 100-400 words)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judges Scoring Criteria & Prizes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Judges will select 12 winners<\/strong> (1 per category per grade group). Decisions are final and based on creativity, content, and presentation. Winners will be notified via email in April 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
