global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gpo.gov\/fdsys\/pkg\/PLAW-111publ296\/pdf\/PLAW-111publ296.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA)<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>requires the local school wellness policy, at a minimum to include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Goals for nutrition promotion and education, physical activity, and other school based-activities that promote student wellness.<\/li>\n<li>Nutrition guidelines for all foods and beverages available on school campus during the school day.<\/li>\n<li>Requirements that Stakeholders be provided opportunities to participate in the development, implementation, periodic review and update of the wellness policy.<\/li>\n<li>A plan for measuring effectiveness, that is measured periodically and that the assessment is made available to the public.<\/li>\n<li>Public notification informing and updating the public (parents, students, and others in the community) periodically about the content and implementation of the local school wellness policy.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">All stakeholders, including but not limited to, students, parents, teachers, nutrition service professionals, school health professionals, the Board of Education, school administrators and other interested community members shall have the opportunity to participate in the development, implementation and periodic review of the wellness policy.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Everyone is welcome to participate including parents, students, school food service, PE teachers, school health professionals, school board members, school administrators, the general public, and other interested stakeholders. <\/span><span>If interested in serving on Downey Unified&#8217;s Wellness Policy Committee, please\u00a0contact the Assistant Director at (562) 469-6675.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243;
