School counselors are credentialed\u00a0educators who improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program.\u00a0Downey High School Counselors are vital members of the DHS educational team,\u00a0trained to help students and families deal with academic challenges in schools, and personal\/social situations that may impede their learning.\u00a0They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal\/social development, and career development. They do not work in isolation; rather they are integral to the total education program. Downey High School\u2019s ten counselors align and work with the school mission to prepare students for 21st-century college and career success and to produce responsible, well-rounded citizens connected to our local and global community.<\/p>\n
