T<\/span>he Social Studies Department at Doty implements a rigorous curriculum that focuses on argumentative writing using the DBQ system, annotation and citing evidence in developing critical reading skills and AVID strategies including Cornell Notes. Students study the CA State Standards using the New CA Framework.<\/span><\/p>\n Ancient Civilizations including Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome<\/span><\/p>\n Medieval History including Europe, Middle East, Africa, China, Japan, and pre-Columbian America<\/span><\/p>\n American History including the Constitution and Civil War<\/span><\/p>\n There are also elective classes such as Mock Trial and Leadership.\u00a0<\/span>Mock Trial is a class that prepares students for participation in a mock criminal trial in a courthouse in front of a real judge.
